The guide lip was interrupting the follower when the magazine door is opened or closed. Upon inspection, it appears the rivet has come loose and the guide lip was slightly bent. I have managed to tap the guide lip back into shape, and mushroom the rivet to secure it. However, I do suspect it will once again come loose and be a problem.

I can obtain a new guide lip, but how does one remove the old rivet and secure a new guide lip into place with a new rivet. The manual states the guide lip was factory riveted…

Anyone ever done this?

Hopefully you have fixed it. If the lip is no longer being hit by the follower, there should be no reason for it to come loose. FWIW (not a great deal) I've never seen a loose lip. Even if you could get the proper parts, setting the rivet would likely need a holding jig. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I put a "parts Krag" together, starting with a basically 'stripped' action.

The receiver did have its guide lip, but it was bent & loose on the rivet.

I judiciously tapped the guide into proper shape using a copper mallet and a hardwood block for support.

I 'punched' the inside-end of the rivet, with a 'center-punch' and several sharp hammer blows. The bottom end of the pin was supported on a steel block.

This totally tightened the pin and guide. The parts have not loosened with regular use.

I've done it, replacing a broken guide lip. Went easier then I thought once I located the bottom of the rivet. Working from the bottom of the reciever, drove it up and out with a punch, drove it back in from the top with a wooden dowel so as not to deform the top of the rivet.

BH - Was there a particular rivet you used?

I re-used the same rivet, it's called a rivet, but to me, it's a pin with a thin cap or head on the end that retains the guide lip.

Finding the end of the rivet/pin on the bottom of the receiver was tricky due to the finishing but once located, it tapped right out. If necessary, I think a new one could be fabricated fairly easily

I’m going to go ahead and replace the guide lip.

POHO - I simply reset the original rivet, so that the 'guide-lip' plate was locked securely in place.
There was no need to disassemble anything.

IMO - You are making something simple, more complicated than it needs to be.
You probably already fixed it!

There is a crack developing about center of the guide lip where it was bent, and I suspect it is going to break in half due to metal fatigue eventually… If I don’t replace it now, I’ll have a replacement when the time comes.

You did not mention the 'crack' in the plate at the start of this thread.

The plot thickens .... that guide lip will ultimately fail.

You will have to reuse the current rivet or make one.
