Re: New Acquisition

Great information butlersrangers. I have ordered a copy of the book you got the information out of. Should be a good thing to have with the rifle.

Re: New Acquisition

No adjustments were needed. I shot 2 groups of 5, letting the barrel cool between groups. All but 1 was within one inch of the bullseye at 100 yards 3 were right on. The one was way off. I,m blaming that on the ammo. It is very windy here today.<br />I would like to know how to use all the functions...

Re: New Acquisition

I have replaced the rear sight ladder with a better one. http://www.flickr.com/photos/85591315@N00/10907231754/in/set-72157636869340976

Now its time to take it out to the range (my back yard) and make the necessary adjustments.

Re: Krag Take Down Tool

Re: New Acquisition

Upon closer inspection I see the sight ladder on my rifle has been broken off and welded back on. Also someone has taken a file to it. It looks like it was bent and after straightening they filed off the remaining high points. I will be replacing it as soon as I find a good quality one for sale. <br...

Re: New Acquisition

I thought the rear sight looked pretty crude. I didnt know if thats just the way they were made. The only american firearm I have for comparison is a 1884 springfield trapdoor and it is much better. I will see about replacing it.
I was hoping the bayonet was a kadet version.

Re: New Acquisition

Thanks for the information. The bayonet is either nickle or chrome plated. The rivets are plain steel. It appears to be the original finish. Would this be considered unusual?
