Re: installing an 03a3 sight on a shortened Krag

I have not heard of an adaptation like this but I suppose it is possible. I don't see how the A3 rear sight can go directly on the receiver since it has a split bridge. If the scope mount sits over the center of the receiver, perhaps a dove tail for the A3 sight base can be miiled into it. Depending...

Re: Brass lifespan

I think I annealed the cases after each 10 firings.

By neck size, I mean that I screw the die in until it is about .1" above the shell holder. I lube the case (trimmed), leaving a small dab of lube at the jucture of the shoulder & neck. I then size the case, progressively screwi...

Re: Brass lifespan

I have one batch of brass from the early '70s that has been fired 30x times. I annealed the brass periodically and trim as needed. No loose primer pockets so far (wouldn't expect that anyway). Just a few cases have failed.

Re: Krag trigger - old target trick

I like the two stage trigger and wish my Krag had a decent trigger pull. Of all the M1903s & Garands I've seen, my M1898 has the worse trigger pull of them all; rough and heavy. The sear is nice & smooth so I can't say why the trigger pull is bad, it just is.

Re: My 1898 Krag wants to shoot!!

I'd leave thr front sight alone since you are using reduced loads. I typically have to set the sights at 500-550 yds on M1903 rifles to zero them at 100 yds when using reduced loads & cast bullets. If you shorten the front sight and then go back to full loads, you'll have the opposite problem - ...

Re: Marines?

The belt buckles appear to have crossed rifles or crossed sabers looks like what the Army Infantry or Calvary would use. They do not look, to me, to be crossed cannons. If they were Marines, wouldn't the insignia include the globe & anchor?

The barrels appears to be not long enough to...

Re: 30 US Cartridge Brass

Compare your cases with .303 British cases. The shoulder on the shortened cases looks like it is longer than the .30-40. It appears someone resized & shortened some .30-40 cases into .303 British cases.

Re: A Krag Gallery Practice Rifle

Would you please post pictures of the receiver with the stock removed that show how the receiver was ground down & recontoured?

Thanks!
