Re: Re:Not Magazine Rifle

From my understanding, and I don't know where it came from anymore, but say crack with a "g" at the end instead. Not Craig with a long "a", but a short "a". It is kind of a subtle difference, that is if I know what I'm talking about.

Present Service Rifle Musket vs. Improved Musket

I found it of interest to note that in the fiscal year ending 6/30/1901 in the Chief of Ordnance Report (you can find it under important topics) that the Krag was referred to as the "present service rifle musket". This is seen on pages 6 to 8. (I wish I could do as butlersrangers can do wi...

Re: Magazine Rifle

What do you have to do to register for the first time. I used the link and have been at the sight before. Do you have to contact them and ask to be registered? Otherwise I have not found how to register. Thanks

Re: Bayonet trivia from 1895 Report

It appears the meat can cover was part of the mess kit. Why not use a cooking cover for digging yourself a trench. Then make supper using it as a lid? Very resourceful, no?

Re: Magazine Rifle

As there appears to be some interest in these "reports", I am attempting to find ordnance reports from 1892 to 1903 and have found some, but a few missing years. Still trying, though. When I accumulate as much as possible I'll post with the web link for each year. I have already scanned a ...
