Load Suggestions
I am just getting started on reloading for my 1898 Krag rifle. The 220 RN with 40 gr of IMR 4350 went fine. I have some other bullets at my disposal and was wondering what some of your favorite loads are. I think next I'll use the Hornady 178 gr BTHP Match. Powders at my disposal are IMR 4350, IMR 4...

Re: Krag Bayonet Catch Missing
Thanks for the advice. It is probably for the best to forget about it. Too bad though...it is a nice bayonet.

Krag Bayonet Catch Missing
I have a nice Krag bayonet and scabbard but the latch/button is missing like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Krag-Bayonet/124167169979?hash=item1ce8f0a7bb:g:GgUAAOSwhQlepdUD
Does anyone have an idea on how to fix it? I can't see how one could get that done.

Re: Original US Army 30-40 Load
Thanks for all the info. I ordered some RCBS dies and the Sierra 220 grain from Brownells today. I am looking forward to taking my Krag out to shoot more often.

Re: Original US Army 30-40 Load
Thanks for all the information! I took it out and shot it this weekend with Remington Core-Lokt. It grouped pretty nicely from 100. I am very glad I picked up the Krag.

Regarding the cracked lugs...what fps will 40 grains of powder and a 220 grain bullet do? I am assuming that load is di...

Original US Army 30-40 Load
I recently picked up my first Krag (1898) and am anxious to shoot it. Is there a place to buy 30-40 Krag ammo that is close to the original Army load? My gunsmith told me to avoid the modern commercial ammunition because while the action can handle those loads, it will put too much stress on the sto...
