Krag bolt strength
I might be wrong, but years ago someone did an article on proving the strength of a Krag bolt. He had the loads used and photo of what he did. Have you any idea who this was and how I could find the write up. Thanks much.

Re: Might an 1896 Krag Carbine be on the SRS list?
John42768, thank you for your input. I am just trying to make up my mind about this Carbine. I have the photos of your excellent carbines. From what little I can tell from a photo, this one isn't as strong as your 1896 but it is rated as overall fine condition. "C" stamped rear sight, 1897...

Re: removing black power nipples
And then there is always Kroil. I found this to be far better than any commercial liquid wrench. And a master gunsmith I know uses that 50/50 solution posted by Rod.

Re: 1898 Krag Carbine question
Again I thank all you gentlemen with the Carbine information.<br />I see now the price of that carbine is going up. If that "gunshop" ends up with it, bet they call it an original carbine. Personally I make it as a very nice 30-40 Krag, but not something I would pay beyond what it is now b...

Re: 1898 Krag Carbine question
Now I am leery. The rear sight is a 1902 type 3 with the auxillary peep. It does contain a "C" but on the right side, not the left. And the top graduation goes to 20. Does that indicate carbine or rifle? Charlie

Thank you again gentlemen. I also get a refinished feeling and that barrel band looks awfully "newish". Charlie

Re: 1898 Krag Carbine question
Butlersrangers and John42768. John, I have kept your photos of those great carbines. Maybe both of you would take a look at the Carbine and give me an opinion. It is on Gunbroker item 297758058. thank you---Charlie

1898 Krag Carbine question
There is a Carbine on a web sight that is an 1898. By the serial number it dates Sept-1898. However, it has a 1902 sight. Could that be correct?

1899 Krag Carbine
I'm slightly interested and it goes off tomorrow, but if you will, check the 1899 Carbine on Gunbroker #292619045 and tell me what you think the top dollar value might be. Looks refinished. I am concerned about the marks on the barrel/
