Re: Norwegian Sporter Krag
I ask for suggestions. I also check the data. I am interested in what other Norwegian Krag users find effective. I've been surprised at my results using info from my Sierra load book. Sierra listed Varget as the powder they used for their accuracy load using the 140 grain SBT. As such, I've been sur...

Re: Norwegian Sporter Krag
Parashooter - not afraid, just a rookie trying to figure things out with somewhat limited resources. That's why I appreciate this forum.
I have a couple of other powder choices: IMR 4895 and IMR 4064. Any suggestions on loads using these powders?

Re: Norwegian Sporter Krag
I'm remembering that a few of tlhe primers went in a little to easily. I had backed out primers (all) even with 35 grain Varget loads.

Re: Norwegian Sporter Krag
OK, I admit it. I'm addicted and am a prime candidate foe the KCAA (Krag Collectors Anonymous Association). I ordered a Fosters 6.5x55 Fiekd Gage and it came today. The original bolt almost closes on the Field Gauge. I has purchased a backup bolt sleeve from Numrich and this bolt will not close eith...

Re: Norwegian Sporter Krag
Going to take a break from working on my 6.5x55 Krag. I'm waiting on casting equipment for my US Krag. Need to shift gears.
But ...... I'll be back. :)

Re: Norwegian Sporter Krag
I'm wondering what others use for loads in their Norwegian Krags. If I was only getting about 70% load density with 32.5 grains of Varget I may not be getting enough with 35 grains.<br /><br /> Am beginning to think I need to go back to square 1. Change everything: bullet type, powder, brass, and pr...

Re: Norwegian Sporter Krag
<r>Just for fun I checked the case length after firing. They trimmed at 2.152 inches using my Lee case length trimmer. I haven't trimmed them In two firings. They still measure 2.152, some at 2.154. Max case length is 2.165.<br /><br /><br /> I see no evidence of case head expansion when dissecting ...

<r>I think I have a wall hanger here.
