Springrield research service shows several KRAG RIFLES in your serial no grouping. That would indicate to me that you have a cut down rifle not a carbine, but I am not an expert. By the way, it does not have a (M) stammped on the receiver it says:
U.S.
1895 Springfield Armory. 29912
These are the only markings on the receiver that I am aware of. Thank you again for your help.
