Re: New Rifle and Carbine

I think Italian Walnut stocks are way over called. Just because some wood looks a little light does not mean it is Italian Walnut. It is an interesting variation in Krag collecting but not too important. I actually love the deep American Walnut look better with 100+ years of patina. I didn't see whe...

Re: New Rifle and Carbine

I sure thought that he had a 488K Krag also. Higher than my 482K. But, I'll take op's word for the 468K. The picture enlarged does show slight difference in the shape of the top right side of the number that coincides with the "6" as different than the "8". Picture is not as shar...

Re: target camera

I like your set up. I have seen some of the digital target camera systems but I don't have a good range to set one up at yet. Maybe in the future. Instead I have adapted a Celestron G5 Reflecting telescope as a spotting scope (with a variety of lenses for different distances and magnification) for s...

Re: Nice Parts

Matty- Many of us have worked with granpas gun parts on the internet to get what we need for our Krags. He's top shelf and extremely helpful.

Re: Where are pictures from the old format?

Thanks, Fred. If I ever get enough spare time and feel like it, I can repost pictures.

And, by the way it's a Philippine Constabulary Rifle- NOT a school rifle!! (Ha! I had to point that mistake out just for fun!)

Re: Where are pictures from the old format?

Thanks for the update. I am very patient but get frustrated after a while. I have brought this issue up many months ago without any real insight into how to deal with recovery of pictures. Thanks for the help.

Where are pictures from the old format?

Are pictures from the old format still accessible? Where and how? I still can't easily find old posts and pictures from some old posts I have searched aren't there anymore. It has been a loss because I put a ton of time and effort creating some posts with pictures and labels for helping me and other...

Re: collector grade Krag advice

You might be best advised to post pictures of it here so we can help you figure out real value. Most of the higher-end auction houses like Little Johns or Rock Island will probably not accept your Krag if it is not a better quality and higher value piece. They have their reputation from getting more...

New Market Value of M1896 Krag Carbine Rear Sight

So, now we know how much these things are worth on the current market. M1896 Krag Carbine Rear Sight just sold on ebay for $1.005. More than I expected. I had a bid in for $110 just to follow the item. There were 10 individual bidders and 50 total bids. Looks correct and not even mint condition but ...
