My favorite penetrating concoction is 50% power steering fluid and 50% acetone. My personal experience is it works better than any of the commercial market offerings. I keep it in a sealed mason jar so the acetone does not evaporate.

Paul,<br /><br />If the serial number is 933079 it was manufactured by Colt in 1943 (http://www.cruffler.com/ProductionDataPages/ColtAutoPistols/Model-1911A1.html) and I expect was surely issued during WW2. I believe the FJA stamp on the left side indicates it was refurbished by Springfield Arsenal....
