Re: Is it just me? Any thing wrong with this picture?
Yes, that last photo (shooting across the plowed field) does raise eyebrows about safety, but I also have to comment on the look-alike prone positions of all the shooters, with their legs symetrically spread-eagled, rather than the classic one-leg-bent-at-the-knee prone position. The one-leg-bent po...

Movie full of Krags!
"Amigo", released 2011. Set during the Philippine-American War, 1900. The village Mayor is caught up in the conflict between the occupying US Army and local guerilla forces. Soldiers carried rifles which 'kind of' looked like Krags, but seemed slightly different. Maybe Norwegian? There is ...

New Krag (replaced stolen one)
Finally have a Krag again after losing two in home invasion robbery. This is a very nice rifle, s/n 1587XX, M1898 with M1902 rear sight, excellent bore, good-to-very-good metal, and fair-to-good wood. Sprinfield Research Service shows it as issued to 7th Infantry on January 2, 1903. (This is the fir...

Gun Collection Stolen - LEARN FROM THIS!
On October 30th, 2005, I was the victim of an armed home invasion, bound, and robbed. Three young, pistol-toting thugs sneaked in through my garage (outside door was barely open enough for my cats, inside door to house was unlocked), stole a total of 30 firearms, loaded them in my car, and stole the...

Vintage Krag brass - Free to a Good Home
Anybody know a cartridge collector? I have a handful of really old Krag empty brass cases, free for the asking, just pay postage. Majority headstamped WRA 30 ARMY; also WRA 30, Super Speed 30 ARMY, and UMC 30 U.S.A. If interested, send me a private message.

Thanks, Kyjames. Fun, too! Forgot to add this pic (showing rifle with original sights)

It's also a fine shooting rifle. I can sure see why the old soldier marksmen didn't welcome the '03 Springfield...

Re: reloading

Richard,
Have you tried any of the 180gr RN bullets from Hornady? I have some on order from Midway along with some 180gr Win PowerPoints. I thought about gettting some 220s and may still. However, the 180gr Win factorys shot point of aim at 200yds with 1901 sights set at 200yds. </b...

Thanks, Ned; good info! I could not find those sights in their downloadable catalog, but will give them a call tomorrow.

Re: Original Sights = Interchangeable?
My gunsmith recommends a new front sight blade .30" higher than the current (M1896) blade. Anyone know a source? Is a higher blade common with any other guns? ...M1093?
