Re: Kragies get together in Baltimore?
Hello Dick,
I like the idea as it would be great to meet as many other members as possable. Unfortunatly some of us are already commited to other get togethers. For myself and Tom (and John Spangler and Charlie Wheeler and maybe more) it is The Society of American Bayonet Collectors yearly meetin...

Re: Conserving a shooting Krag
The most delicate part of the stock is the piece between the magazine and the bolt handle, esp. on the '96 and '92 with the scaloped cut. Be carefull to move the action straight up when removing as too much wiggling can break that piece off.
As for filing the sight blade it's hard to say how that ...

Re: 1896 help?
Hi Again Don,
You have what seems to be a rifle converted by someone to carbine configuration. The serial number isn't in the carbine range. Yours doesn't show up on my serial number list but 100070 and 17 other various numberes around it were rifles issued to 3rd Wisc. Vol. Inf. It is possable t...

Re: Cadet Type II
Well Rob the news is not good! The Krag Cadet Rifle was a full size Krag with a 30 " barrel. It sounds like your friend has a cut down of some sort. I hope he didn't pay a lot for it. I can't say that I have ever heard of a Krag Cadet "Type II" could you tell me where this info came f...

Re: Magazine door disassembly
Well if youg gun is in good shape and has been well lubed over the years this should work. Take the action out of the stock and hold it in the palm of your left hand with your fingers on the closed magazine door and your thumb around the side plate and squeeze. With your right hand grasp the ear on ...

Re: Value of Steyr Krag 6.5mm rifle.
Hi Jock,
Your rifle is a Model 1894. The following information is taken from Brophy's book The Krag Rifle, page 139. "All Steyr Krags were made in 1896 or 1897." "Army M/94 Steyr Krags were serial numbered from number 1 to number 20,000 and from number 30,001 to number 39,000. Appr...

Re: Reloading Info Needed
Hi Bradly,
We have been reloading for our full length Krags for a while now with excellent results! We use 40 gr. of IMR 4350 and Hornady 220 gr. round nose bullets which seems to duplicate original ballistics. My Krags with M'96 sights seem to like 33 gr of IMR 4350.
As far as equipment goes ...

Re: 1902 Rear Sight
Hi Stu,
I would think that it is going to be simpler and less time consuming to replace the whole sight. The parts are probably out there in some dusty box at an old gun shop or at a show but it could take quite a while to find them. As far as dissassembly of the slide stop, that is one that I ha...
