Re: My First Krag!
Hi Mike,
How long is the barrel? Youre rear sight is the model 1901 and would not have been original issue in that serial range. It was common practice to up date sights and hand guards when guns were returned to the armory. Is the front sight braized into a cut in barrel or a band type?

Re: 1912 Krag carbine
Hi Jim,
I am in the middle of a similar project. I have found that parts are hard to find, both here and in Norway. It seems that we should be able to find the parts here as I have been told that most of the 1912 carbines were surplused to the US in the 50's. Many seem to have been sporterized b...

Re: Repair of cracked handguard?
I have repaired cracked handguards before with epoxy. The trick is, obviously, not to epoxy the handguard to the barrel! Make sure both sides of the crack are clean and down to raw wood. Fold a piece of fine sand paper and slip it between the sides when they are together. One or two passes should be...

Re: Can anyone believe it??!!
WOW this has become a hot issue!!
I am watching the bidding on this gun myself and in the early stages had hoped to bid my self. When the price went over $1500.00 with a week left I knew it was out of my league by a mile. While these guns are an uncommon sight in this country I too believe that ...

Norwegin reloads
Glad to see you back Nord! Hopefully you or another of our members/guests can help. I want to reload for my Model 1912. Do you know a load to duplicate military velocity? What was the bullet weight and muzzle velocity for ammo used in the M'12?

Hello again,
The scope mount you show is the same as Dad uses. His clears the safety. I am in the process modifying a mount for another gun as a scout style mount. My gunsmith is quite swamped right now and has had little time for "fun" projects! I'll let you know how it turns out.
T...

Hello P Posey
The serial number of your Krag indicates it started life as a full length rifle. It was produced in 1903. No carbines marked 1898 on the reciever were produced that late.
From your pictures it looks like you have a nice shooter.
The work seems to be well done, the '03 front ...

Re: 1898 short rifle with 1909 cartouch
Hello Big D,
If your Krag actually has a 24" barrel then it is not a constabulary Krag as they were modified from Krag carbines with 22" barrels. Also no Krags were issued with 24" barrels so yours is a cut down rifle. That configuration seems to have been quite popular with the su...
