Re: Repairing Front Band and Screw on 1898 Rifle

Never mind. I compared them side by side and it was .010" to big. #10 tap measured .193" in diameter.

Re: Repairing Front Band and Screw on 1898 Rifle

That's very close to a standard 10-24 tap. Could it be that do you think?

Re: Repairing Front Band and Screw on 1898 Rifle

Cannonsight,<br />Thanks for the offer and I might take you up on that. But first I'd like to try a simple approach. Repairing Front Band and Screw on 1898 Rifle

Re: Question as to Springfield records

I just purchased a 1898 Krag with a 30" barrel, serial number 404870. I can find no markings on the stock except the original cartouche and I can find not extra stampings on the metal other than the original serial number and mfg. barrel markings. Can anyone tell me about this particular rifle?...

Almost a new Krag Owner

I'm in the process of buying a very nice 1898 Springfield Krag rifle with the 30" barrel. It is in excellent plus condition to include bore and its serial number 4048XX tells me it was made in 1903. The only odd thing about it is the bayonet lug seems to have been removed, albeit very nicely. I...
