Re: Fireforming loads

I use WC-860 and WC-872 with my Krag and NOE 311-202-RN (~210 grains)

I am shooting them from an MGM custom 26 barrel on the Encore frame

Not quite the stuff you guys shoot, but still a 30-40 Krag!!!

Anyhow, 49 grains of 860 with the NOE boolit are giving me ~1979 fp...

Re: Cast bullet question

I'm still working with that stuff, but the really fast 311365 loads with the high speed alloy was a case full of WC860 with a bit of boost. The 7383 is doing great in the K31 with 168gr Sierra Tipped Matchkings.

I use a full case of WC-860 or WC-872 with the NOE 3...

Re: Trail Boss

I've used the 70% rule as previously mentioned. I have used TB in 13 different cartridges and honestly have not found it to be "gawd's" gift to the reloader. Accuracy for all was only so-so, but I think it works better in straight-walled cases. Mostly handguns...

I have used 9.0...

Re: Safe Hunting Load?

Old Hornady manuals show 42 grains of IMR-4350 as maximum for the 220 grainer and 45 grains for the 180 grainer. Speer does show 46 grains as maximum for the 180 GS. QL starts to show that is hitting high pressures near the maximum

I think you might need a considerably faster powder than ...

Re: new brass

Im still using the 1st fifty pieces of Graf brass I purchased several months ago. Some of it has been reloaded a dozen times. I am using cast boolits with full charges of WC-872, a super slow burner. This is producing pressures in the neighborhood of 23000 psi according to QL. So, that is not brutal...

Re: Factory Powder in R-P & Super X...

Indeed

The IMR-30-31 is certainly a good powder for the 30-30 Winchester as I have loaded hundreds of them with that powder. I would think it would perform as well in the 30 Remington also

So, as I see it with the 30-40 Krag, I do believe I will start with a mid-range charge of...

Factory Powder in R-P & Super X...

Need a bit of info about the older R-P and Western Super X ammo

I am shooting the 30-40 Krag in a custom MGM barrel on the Encore frame

Very good accuracy using the N.O.E. 311-202-RN (~210 grains) and a compressed charge of WC-872. This powder has a burn rate equal to or slower...

Recommended Powder...

I know this is a question that probably has no exact answer, but is there a powder that might be a good starter for a 150-165 grain bullet?...

Slow burners such as the 4350's or mid-range burners?...

Thanks...BCB

NOE 311-202-RN Data...

Just register to this site as I am presently working with the 30-40 Krag cartridge. I am shooting strictly cast boolits. (For those who might not recognized that wordslang for bullets, those of cast formCastboolits website)

Regardless, I am shooting an Encore with a custom 26 MGM barrel. ...
