Re: Frankford Arsenal 1907 Bench Reloading kit
I just checked the auction results on line. This set brought $4,112.50 (including the buyer's premium of 17.5%).

Re: Frankford Arsenal 1907 Bench Reloading kit
I looked them up in Col. Brophy's books on the Krag and the '03's. He doesn't mention number made, but that they were available at a regimental level. The implication being that there were more than 25 sets. Either way, when I see individual components offered, they bring pretty good money. I'm sure...

Re: Junk Yard Krag
I'd say keep it and shoot it. Maybe for harder use, like hunting, etc. If you really don't want it around, maybe you could pass it on at a modest price to a young would be collector on a limited budget. Get someone else hooked on the hobby. The last thing I would do is break it up for parts. Even th...

Re: Reproduction carbine stocks
Try Michael Kokolus from Dushore, Pa. at gunstockduplicating.com , He usually sets up at the Allentown, Pa. shows. Many different stocks, I've seen him with Krags. Didn't look like they required too much work.

Re: Was $400 too much to pay for a 1896 C rear sight?
I saw one go for $600 once. Would I pay that, or even $400, probably not. One thing to consider is if you're into the carbine cheap enough (before the site) what does it matter? Compare your total investment, to what the retail value may be. The rest is irrelevant.

Re: 1898 sight
Dave,
Work your way back a couple of years in the forum. I seem to remember quite a few posts on reloading. Anything from loading blanks, neck sizing, cartridge case flow during ignition, mild loads, bullet weights, powder types and burn rates, etc. You should find some good answers there.<br /...

Re: 1898 sight
Dave,
I agree with Dick. The first thing to do is get the book from northcape. Also, check the forum for the extensive discussion on the merits of the Mallory and Brophy books. These are only necessary if you're going to get deep into Krags. As for the stock, if it's only a couple of minor crac...

Re: need help or info
If it's just a clean crack, you should be able to glue it. Some of the epoxies available today are stronger then the original wood. If you're not comfortable doing it, a gunsmith should be able to help you. If you really insist on replacing the stock, cut downs are on ebay frequently, for reasonable...

There's a Brophy book on ebay, current bid, $59, with a little over 4 hours to go.

Re: Help please
Your Krag was made in 1894, and is a Model 1892 rifle. Most of these were rebuilt to Model 1896 configuration. Your stock was "sporterized" or cut down. Full stock infantry rifles didn't have band retaining springs. The later 1896 cartouche date may have been from the rebuild period, or th...
