Re: Real Gunbroker Men of Genius

And he fired 303 ammo in it. I suppose it could have been converted but seems unlikely.

Re: Is Joe Farmer still selling books?

I ordered one last year by following the instructions on his forum post linked below.

Re: Y'all were right...these things do multiply - 1896

Looks good. I'm up to three now. My original grandfather gun that i de sporterized, my 1899 carbine with less than original barrel and a pristine nearly unused 1898 rifle. Keep em alive is my motto. Everyone isn't a pristine collector gun or teddy Roosevelt gun. Good find.

Re: 1899 Carbine Confusion HELP!

I have one that is very similar to that except mine had a sling swivel inlet into the stock, the barrel has been changed at some point. Seems to be a common replacement barrel, as mine is very close to 22" and has that same Springfield site. Makes it less desirable as a collectible carbine and ...

Re: what get stored in the butt stock

The oiler, and multi piece(3) cleaning rods store in the buttstock of the Krag Rifle and Carbine. There are pre-drilled holes for each section of the rod and the oiler. The oilers i have seen are unmarked and have a brush inside.

Re: 99 Carbine

A correct 1899 carbine stock is not common and cost will be high 400.00 plus. I bought a carbine that needs a stock but have not found one in 2 plus years. Check the barrel and sights as well. 800.00 is a high price if it's missing much or has a replacement barrel.

As sporters go that is a nice one. Great pickup. Enjoy.

Re: Help Identifying Possible Fake

Don't listen to the negative Nancy's. To obtain a unmolested pristine Krag your looking at 1000s of dollars potentially depending on history and documentation. I got a sporterized Krag from my Grandparents. I spent hundreds restoring it and some of the naysayers on here would turn there more up to i...
