The Krag in South Africa.

In the Norwegian shooters journal "Norsk skyttertidende" 10th of july 1901, there's a short article called "The Krag Jørgensen rifle in South Africa". It's referring a letter from a British officer, published in a British paper "The spectator". Here's a translation. The...

Re: 1898 .30-40 vs 1894 6.5x55 for action stregnth?

Swedish steel was good, no doubt. But was it actually the worlds finest? or is it just one more of the internet myths? I've seen it repeated on internet forums, but not in periode litterature about rifle production. Haneviks book about the Norwegian Krag states that only the best steel was used, but...

Re: Krag in 6.5x54 MS

I think only Norma sold it at the time. 3b7e9aeb85833596642eac3d5f5a98b18f0e4994.jpeg Here's a couple of threads about these conversions. www.gunboards.com/threads/6-5x55-m...

To find a replacement stock will be hard or even impossible. How's your woodworking skills? You can splice on new pieces of walnut. The contour of the missing parts are quite easy to form. Also the front barrel band can be made.

Re: Krags and Polar Bears

There was actually an uprising among mining workers in Norway in 1917. Not an armed one though and prpably not bolscheviks either. It was in Sulitjelma in Northern Norway. The most famous uprising here were in 1907. It's just been released a film about it. The mining company payd lousy wages, and th...

You can reload with any bullet you like. Just find the one that has the best precision in your rifle. I can see that you rear sight is calibrated for the 139 grain spitzer w / boattail that were adopted by the army in 1925. With the old 156 grain roundnose, the ramp were taller than the rear sight b...

Re: Norwegian Krags in their natural habitat.

Sometimes the polar bears got even and the hunter became the prey. This Krag was found by Swedish exploreres on Svalbard in the 1963. Scattered around it were human bones. It is believed it was the hunter Georg Nilsen that disappeared in that area in 1921 - 22. Obviously the rifle jammed and the bea...
