Re: Wastin' away in Geezerville
Happy birthday. Enjoy your retirement. Just don't look at the clock. It spins a lot faster than when you were working.

Re: Krag leather slings - new
What butlers rangers says. The 1907 is the better sling if you are going to use it for standing , kneeling, or prone shooting. It really doesn't look out of place on a Krag.

Re: A pair of 1898's in the UK
Welcome to the K.C.A. Nice Pair of Krags. That looks like a nice range to shoot them at. I wonder if the Krags came across the pond during WW1?

Found this at dads place. The kids seem pretty happy. Maybe one of their teachers is inside.

Re: Loitering around Chattanooga
That rod bayonet 03 and Krag school rifle are nice looking. I guess most of those are behind glass and not out in the wild.

Re: range time
I learned to back off 10% when i bought a new lot of whatever powder brand i was using. You would work up from there. With a new purchase of powder 20 years newer then the last batch i would give a call to the manufacturer. Some powder is way different than its original recipe. They usually will giv...

Re: range time
The Krag is not that hard to load cast bullets for. I use Lyman no.2 alloy or linotype for casting. No leading of the barrel easy clean up (except for the 2400 powder). With the 03A3 i have shot some of my best groups with jacketed bullets. I will get it to shoot with cast. I can still shoot 30-06 a...

Re: range time
Thanks, i think both of these rifles will shoot well with some more experimenting. With some work i hope i can get 2" groups at 100 yards. Cast bullets are a different animal then jacketed ones but i enjoy making and shooting them.

In defence of these rifles you have to consider who was behind them too.[attachment=0]theshakiestguninthewest1968.89782.1 (1).jpg[/attachment

Re: range time
Well since there are no pic's of nice tight groups you can figure out how that went. The Krag shot better than the 03A3. I am shooting the N.O.E. version of the lyman 311299 bullet. About 210 grs.as cast. At 50 yards i had a 2"+ group with the Krag. The 03A3 group was bigger. I think the bullet...
