Re: Any Recent Experience With Criterion Krag Rifle and Carbine Barrels?
I do not know about the Krag barrel, but i had a criterion M-1 garand barrel put on a M-1. My gunsmith said it was a correct fit and i think it shoots great. i would guess that the Krag barrel might have a different thread pitch for the rear sight.

Re: 50 round belt
The wire "hanger" is not wide enough for a trapdoor bayonet scabbard. Maybe its for a Krag bayonet, sword or as Mr. Hosmer said a cartridge box?

Re: 45 round belt
20240319_144727.gif The belt seems to fit a 30-40 round better than a 45-70. The loops are not sewn on but woven together with the belt. It is definetly black with no trace of blue or purple. It has 45 loops. Just a guess but maybe used for funerals? I cannot find much info with a google search. An...

50 round belt
I picked up a 50 round belt i believe for the 45-70 cartridge. It holds a 30-40 round ok. I will have to dig out a 45-70 round to see if it fits. It has a mills and orndorf 1894 patent date on it. I have seen these in khaki and blue but this one is black. Has any of the forum members seen one like t...

Re: Cast bullets in the Krag
I bought a N.O.E. mold that casts a 220gr. bullet based on the lyman mold made for the Krag rifle. I have not found a good load for it yet. I did load a bunch of 175gr. and 135gr. cast pills for the Krag. I will head to the range and see how my 1898 rifle likes them (hopefully better than the 220gr....

Re: 30-40 Gallery Hand Loads?
I shoot cast bullets in all of my military surplus rifles. The lyman cast bullet handbook is a good investment if you plan to go that route. The C.E. Harris article is the result of years of cast bullet shooting and is one of the best treatys on this type of shooting. Some of the older speer and hor...

Re: RUAG Primers coming to the firing line
The bass pro shop by me (illinois) has federal large rifle primers in stock. They are $110.00 per thou. If you have a bass pro or cablamos near you it might be worth a look. While you are there you can pick up a $15.00 no.7 rapala shad rap and a $9.00 bag of beef jerky the size of a tea bag, such a ...
