Re: OOPS

I use AA4064 too. 47.5gr gave me primers a little flatter at the edge than I like so I went with 46.4, which made my unlimited Garand very happy! Easy to remember too! Sub MOA groups with 168gr Sierra Tipped Matchkings! Someday I'll figure out how to put pics on this board again, oh look, I found it...

I thought the first 100 Krags went to VIPs. Be neat to be able to run it back to one of them.

Re: A nice long range rifle with a sad life.

With rim turned down to .485" a better fitting 6.5 Japanese can be made from .303, 30-40, and mostly likely your 410 shells too. I use .303 mostly, but have some I made from 30-40. I do the sizing before turning the rim down and opening up a .41 magnum shellholder a bit allows me to reload the ...

Re: IMR-7383 RAD-78 with 168 grain FMJ's .30-40

Be very careful with that stuff Chief! I have the slow lot, gave it a little boost in 7.5x55 which worked quite well, tried the same in my Garand and was really flattening primers, maybe bending the op rod! I've not tried it in 30-40 cause boosted 860 works really good. I haven't been able experimen...

Re: Cast bullets in the Krag

The NOE version of 311284 works well. It casts a larger .302" bore riding nose than most of those that come from Lyman/Ideal molds which I've read can come out .299" or smaller depending on alloy, casting temp etc. The nose shape on the 311284 rides up the Krag feed ramp well also. One wou...

Re: Repro Kerr sling.

The cloth looks to be of better quality than the one I bought, oh 15yrs ago or so. I tried using it once in prone, not over tight and I could see the rivets were pulling through the cloth.

Re: Rahimi

OK, time to update. The little chief is still in hot water, but there is some question to the validity of the warrant he was served. Sources tell me that he made a purchase of a class 3 firearm through the dept, but it wasn't being kept at the department! Oh, oh! The detective sought the protection ...

Re: 1899 Krag and young buck

I recall reading in the Frank de Hass' book Bolt Action Rifles that 444 Marlin was doable. That one is already on Ohio's approved list. There are better shaped bullets available now vs back then. Pressure is 44,000 cup.

I've got a couple packs of those sabots somewhere. I've had them 13-14yrs and haven't done anything with them yet!

Re: 1899 Krag and young buck

I'm going to have to build me a "straight wall cartridge" Krag someday. I often think about it, but likely will never get around to it. Good job Mark!
