Re: Accuracy Question/ Point of Impact

Thanks for all the replies. I have found, at least with the US Krag chassis, that there seems to be no steadfast rules on how to fit the stock. I have a cut down rifle that someone converted many years ago to a carbine and I actually really like the shorter length. It's a very comfortable and handy ...

Re: Accuracy Question/ Point of Impact

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. I have worked on a number of 03's and 03A3's but they are vastly different in regards to barrel pressure etc. Can I assume that I should have just a slight amount of vertical barrel movement when all is tight? I am contemplating taking the front band off and leaving...

Accuracy Question/ Point of Impact

<r>Greetings: I finally had a chance to spend some quality time at the range today with my Krag Rifle and an issue came up that I would like some help with. Several months ago I installed a new Criterion barrel on my rifle and the project turned out pretty good. While not a Doug Turnbull restoration...

Re: new barrel for krag

With the Criterion barrels you actually finish ream the chamber AND establish headspace on the back side of the barrel. If you go the Criterion route be very careful about indexing the timing marks. I just did a one last Saturday and lined the marks up and reamed the chamber and things went quite ni...

Re: Krag Accuracy

This is all very interesting and in some respects very similar to what some do with the 03/03A3's. The free floating of a barrel has some merit as many rifles use that concept. Others feel the fore end of the stock must exert 5 or more pounds of upward pressure on the barrel yet the barrel bands mus...

Re: Krag Accuracy

Thanks for the help guys......I'll keep working on this.<br /><br />Let me ask about the Krag experts here about the mechanics of these rifles. When I installed the new Criterion barrel I noticed that the front barrel bands really "trap" the barrel into the stock. This is somewhat contrary...

Krag Accuracy

Hi All: I restored a Krag rifle and installed a new Criterion barrel on it. It turned out quite nice but I would like to know if anyone else has done this and what type of accuracy you ended up with? I should say I only shoot jacketed bullets thru mine usually 155 or 168 Amax. I have no feeding prob...

Re: steps to wining your next cmp match

Seeing the front sight is the key to shooting as best you can. Prescription shooting glasses, if you are near sighted, is a hit and miss (no pun intended) proposition. You need a VERY good eye exam to determine correction and then you need a very, VERY good person to make the glasses. One or the oth...

Re: newbie questions: front sight and bolt

I don't know if I would be so quick to give up on the original bolt body. If you can take a couple of pics of the bolt face and post them we can give you a better idea of what to do with it.

He's laughing because he and his friends got the pick of the litter and now they are drowning the junk!
