Hi.
By serial it is a m94 rifle, made in 1898 (Year 1898 Stamped on top end of receiver)
Approx 2300 krags made that year. (I got one 1898 my self)
In 1940 the rifle were in service at Bergen Arsenal (Infantery regiment 9/10).

Yes, thats the handguard.
Value in US? Not sure, but seen different norwegian krags go for 500-1000 on Gunbroker.com.

You got a M1897-Ingenirkarabin.
870 made in 1901.
You lack the small wooden handguard between receiver and rear sight. Also, as you probebly understand, the rubber recoil pad not a option ;) in 1901.
Except from that and the sight/scope base, It seem OK.

You got a Norwegian krag rifle M/1894. In 1917 was the year with the highest production at Kongsberg, 15.000 were produced. The swastika were a common stamp for subcontactors that supplied barrels to the army for reconditioning. The early corrosive ammo "killed" a lot of the original barre...

Press the release knob. If not possible to move, your next step is take the wooden grip of by open the only screw you see. Then you can release the leaver inside and get the bajo of.
