Re: new 6.5x55 krag owner
It is a norwegian Krag/Jrgensen M1894, produced by Kongsberg Vpenfabrikk as all except for a few during 1896-97 that were built by Steyr. Used by the norwegian army until ww2, later sold out to sivilians that have them for huntig and sport/target shooting.
Few left in pure original state. Orig...

Re: American Rifleman October Issue--Krag Article
Time for some history? Norway was before the black death epidemic an independent country. But the black death (1348-1350) took over 2 year the life of 1 / 2 to 2 / 3 of the population, which in turn meant that the Authority lost 80% of its revenue (Tax). There were almost no people to rule, 2 / 3 of...

Re: Found a norwegian
Hi.
If the receiver also is stamped NC, the year and serial seem to tell that you got hold of one on the 600 shortened "stomperud" krags assembled for the germans in 1944. They were mainly assembled with leftover parts, and often see with Steyr 1897 receivers.

Re: Question for Ned Butts: "Nazi Occupation Carbine"
Hi.
I've invetigated more. Out of the serial, marked Nb yours is not a "stomperud". Stomperuds were marked in the Nc series. I was missled by the front sight and barrel dia there. Seems like your front sight been de-soldered, cut down at rear up to sight base, barrel cut and sight res...

Re: Question for Ned Butts: "Nazi Occupation Carbine"
By the pictures it looks like you got a "Stomperud" nazi krag. They were made out of the m94 but stock cut down approx 18 cm fore end, and got a butt plate with no trap-door as the m94. A picture of the buttplate would help to finally id the krag, but from the pic of front sight and shape ...
