Re: In the Trenches

I'm not sure that our views are different though. I have plenty of what I need and my buying habits have never changed - I also take more enjoyment in practical accuracy and not "hosing" targets. It's just that as result of being prepared, I don't have a need to go out and pay the ridiculo...

Re: In the Trenches

I'm sitting pretty good as the time to be prepared was long before this. We'll get through it eventually, it's just a matter on if your current inventory can hold out. I see people that complain about people "hoarding" ammo and components instead of just buying what they need and I've alwa...

1893 Spanish Mauser

One of the things that I particularly enjoy about collecting old/military firearms is to make sure that I have those that help tell a story, or the history of other rifles in my collection. A "last ditch" Type 99 Arisaka or a Kriegsmodell Mauser go very well with earlier T99's or 98K's. It...

Re: My Recent CMP Krag Purchase

Thank You gentlemen! You don't know how bad it was killing me to have gone to the CMP to pick up some new toys and then to immediately have to hit the road for work and not be able to really tear down and clean things up. Thanks for the tips butlersrangers on the teardown, it was pretty straightforw...

Re: My Recent CMP Krag Purchase

Thank You again for the information! I didn't really get to dig into what I had yet as I went out of town as soon as we got back from the CMP. To hear that I picked one out in especially good condition compared to what had been previously seen is very encouraging. I didn't tear down my Krag yet, but...

My Recent CMP Krag Purchase

My wife and I had decided a month or so ago that we would get our kids (12yo twins boy/girl) "big" presents this year. We're both doing pretty well and we feel the kids especially deserve it. They're well behaved, do well in school and both take their hobbies seriously. My son, kinda like ...

Re: My New Bubba Acquisition

Wow! Thank You for the information everyone. BR - digging up that article is especially helpful. It almost appears that this rifle was made using that article as a guide. While I do have some Carbine parts that I managed to source over the past year or so, I tend to agree with Fred in that I'm incli...

My New Bubba Acquisition

Greetings all - my first post here! I managed to snag this rifle yesterday from my dealer for the princely sum of $400. I don't believe that price to be exceptional, but I personally found it fair. He had what I originally thought was a bubba'd Krag that I thought would be fun to bring back to a mil...
