Oops, my bad - the serial number 99543 IS an 1896 model. I even posted my wrong reply twice. :lol: I've had a little too much Guinness on St. Patrick's Day.

No it's dated 1898 and it's a 1896 type stock

Over the past 72 hours I have acquired a decent late model 1896 Krag rifle, serial number 99543. This falls within a batch of rifles issued to the 3rd Wisconsin Infantry Regiment (my home state). Also an early 1896 Krag carbine (AKA Model 1895), serial number 25028. This falls close to one that was ...

Can one of the experts here tell me, did they install the Stevens Pope barrels on GP receivers? I know these barrels were installed at the unit level. According to Bill Brophy's book they were installed at the unit level on rifles already on hand. Which makes me think they should be on a standard kr...

I won Lot 13, some cool stuff in that auction. For what it's worth most of those parts are from Bill Rutters collection. I think there was an 1882 breach block in that auction. Sorry l know that doesn't help you much.

Great picture looks like the trooper ln the middle has a 1st. pattern 1892 rifle with the solid barrel band.
