I saw the 1898/1899 carbine, but I was concerned that it had no inspection cartouche on the stock. I have seen listings that have stated that 1898 carbines converted to 1899 stock/rear sight would not have the cartouche. Is that correct? Should have mentioned I'm referencing the Lot 1405 carbine, s/...

We saw that one, thought it was the best Krag buy at the show. Not much metal finish means to me that it had a lot of history. Would have bought it myself if I was shopping for one, well done. A lot of Krags there at fairly high prices, cheapest one was the one Tom was carrying but no bites on a 98...
