Re: 1895 norwegian krag
Assuming it's a round bolt handle, it's from a rifle. Once the rifle serial hit 5 digits, the Norwegians would abbreviate the serial to the last three digits. The leading period was to show the beginning of the serial. Example: rifle serial 123 would be serialized 123, while rifle 12345 would have i...

Re: Krag Jorgenson 1895 Carbine
I really hope this isn't being sold to you as a carbine, because this is a long rifle missing the rear handguard. Norwegian Krag carbines of the 1895/1897/1904/1907 patterns will ALWAYS have their serial & year of manufacture on the right receiver flat by the bolt handle. Your pictures don't sho...

Re: Norwegian Krag 6.5x55 safe loads!
What I have done for my 6.5x55 Krag loads is to use 1 grain more than the starting load and not get too worked up about it. So far this has worked just fine for me with IMR 4064 and H380, so I would think you'd be perfectly fine with IMR 4895. While you could probably safely load well beyond this po...

Re: Norweigian Krag ID help!
Looks like a private purchase m/1894 Krag-Jorgensen with a m/1912 carbine bolt swapped in for whatever reason. At one point it must have mounted a diopter rear sight, which seems to have been very commonly used in the civilian competition scene.

Re: Norwegian 1894 Krag Restoration
Thanks for the input, everyone! This'll be a fun project to see through, even if it takes a while to come to fruition. In the meantime, if anyone happens to find a stock in the wild or a wrecked long rifle needing a restoration, I'd greatly appreciate a heads up.

Norwegian 1894 Krag Restoration
Hi everyone, I recently acquired an 1896-dated Norwegian Krag barreled action at auction (auction house picture attached - https://imgur.com/a/goCA7Q7) and am looking at going down the rabbit hole of restoring it. A bit of research shows that all of the parts can be acquired relatively easily beside...
