Re: Chamber Obstruction in 1898 Krag Rifle
I used a new Lee full-length sizer die and it was very easy -- it took less effort than resizing fired cases and they chambered & shot fine. They do come out a little shorter than 30/40 cases, around 2.214", but there is plenty of case neck to hold the bullet.

Re: Chamber Obstruction in 1898 Krag Rifle
As requested, I'm posting some additional photos of my rifle. I took it to the range yesterday to test some handloads and it shot very well: 5-shot groups into 1 1/2 minute at 100 yds. 220 gr. Hornady Interlock round nose bullets with 33 grains of IMR 4895 in resized, new PPU .303 brass. These round...

Re: Chamber Obstruction in 1898 Krag Rifle
Thank you for the replies & suggestions. I went downstairs to chamber another case to post a photo of what they look like (since I had resized all of them), and well, well -- they chamber just fine! I think one of two things happened: -- either I was able to clean out whatever it was without det...

Chamber Obstruction in 1898 Krag Rifle
I bought this rifle last summer, and am just getting around to loading some ammunition for it. Based on a recommendation from someone on this forum, I bought some .303 British cases and resized them in a 30-40 die. I tried chambering a couple of the empty cases, and there is something in the chamber...

Re: Source for 30-40 Krag Brass?
Thanks for the suggestions, I have contacted etbrass.com but their in-stock page doesn't list any 30-40 brass. I'll keep looking, thanks again.

Source for 30-40 Krag Brass?
I recently bought an 1898 Krag rifle, but I can't find any source for brass. Does anyone know of a source that has 30-40 brass in stock? I have some backordered with Optics Planet, but they keep pushing back the shipping date.

1896 Rifle with Windage Adjustable Sight
Hi, I recently bought a Model 1896 rifle in pretty decent condition. In researching about the various models of Krags, I read that the 1896 did not have a rear sight adjustable for windage, but mine does. Is this possibly a correct combination? Was this modification likely done by the Army at some p...
