I just re-read Butlersranger’s early response to my post on my early Model 1898 (before I got a copy of Poyer’s book) and saw his comment that Poyer’s “types” are annoying to serious collectors. I will henceforth not use that nomenclature!

I don't understand your response to my last post. I was trying to communicate that your blade, (intended for the model 1896 rear-sight), should measure approximately .285" tall, when removed from the Krag fixed front-sight base. The later Krag rear-sights were partnered with .410" to .413...

It was missing the label for the model 1896 rifle sight.

Poyer lists the 1896 Rifle sight as being 0.285” high sight…the same as the 1896 Type 2.
