Re: Fake, Refreshed, or just me?

'madsenshooter' - Thank you. Life has been a bit crazy for me lately and I have not logged into the forum for some time. Didn't get to the range at all in 2016 and only twice last year. The second time with two that have the new CMP barrels! I still favor the earlier 1898 models prior to mid-1899.Th...

<r>As for actual ships, I have only been to Battleship Cove in Boston but now look forward to seeing the Olympia when I get to Philly! Re: Please Identify this Span-Am Relic?

<r>On a related note, memorials are one thing but discovering personal stories and walking the battlefields bring it too a much higher level. I began my tour of Ohio on the western side with tours of the site of Ft. Recovery and Ft. Greenville (both of indian wars fame). The City of Greenville is ho...

Re: Please Identify this Span-Am Relic?

I took the photo this summer in Marietta, Ohio. They have several memorials to the various wars next to their main Post Office. When I take long road trips, I never hesitate to pay my respects when I spot a memorial. That particular one was a curiosity for me. Thanks for the I.D.

Please Identify this Span-Am Relic?

<r>Any ideas? I haven't a clue. Re: Krag Spring Compression Weights

Dwelling on it overnight, I considered the variables. How did they come up with 22#? Why is their spring 32 coils, a heavier wire, and shorter than 5 inches long? Steels have improved in last 100 years? CHECK. This is the material in stock for their many other springs? LIKELY. I do think I discovere...

Re: Krag Spring Compression Weights

I spoke with Dave at Wolff Gunsprings yesterday. He said that it was highly unlikely that my package contained the incorrect (higher force of 26#) spring but would replace it under warranty if I desired. He also mentioned that the spring could be trimmed down to reduce the force. I said I will consi...

Re: Krag Spring Compression Weights

<r>It's SPRING time! I have gauged, measured and counted the coils on most all the Krag springs I have and that necessitated several take-downs. Then I mix-and-matched to get some uniformity going in the collection. The older 1898s with the square cut barrel faces were the test subjects simply becau...

Re: Krag Spring Compression Weights

A bought a Wolff 22# from Midway about 5 years back and although it did not puncture any primers, the indents were so severe I was afraid it would do so before long so I stopped using it. It was so hard to assemble the bolt that I was afraid of that the firing pin until it was locked into the bolt. ...
