Re: 168gn Sierra HTBT Krag Carbine loads

The light load was a 90 gn partially jacketed
bullet over 9.5 grains of a flake powder possibly bullseye at 1900fps.

Re: 168gn Sierra HTBT Krag Carbine loads

I tried it w/ my 1.75's but I think I need to get my old sight blacker out and blacken the rear of the front sight. One of the previous owners had painted it orange which did nothing for me.
When I removed the paint the rear of the sight is a little shiny. Thanks for the tip, I have other powe...

Re: 168gn Sierra HTBT Krag Carbine loads

Thanks for the inputs. Took it to the range on Friday w/ some 168 gn bullet loads. Had a heck of a time trying to get a consistent sight picture. Old eyes and an aperture on the barrel were not working well together. My buddies carbine (converted rifle) shot decent groups My best was a 3" later...

Re: Krag Chargers,

Thanks! I think even my feeble mind can figure assembly/fabrication out now. Did you use brass or stainless steel sheeting for the fabrication and what thickness did you use?

Re: Krag Chargers,

Parashooter, Thanks! Do you have a picture of the other side of the speedloader once its bent into shape for reference? I see one side in the picture with the wooden forming block dimensions.

Re: Krag Chargers,

Is the pattern and dimensions of the forming block available for someone to make their own?

Re: Krag Chargers,

Was looking for information on Krag chargers and found this string along with an earlier one with a picture of three chargers. Is anyone still making these or have the dimensional drawings so I can try to get some fabricated? Alternately have a source of K31 chargers?

Thanks
Airborne...

168gn Sierra HTBT Krag Carbine loads

Want to try 168gn Sierra HTBT Matchkings in my Carbine. Looking for load recommendations from folks who have shot them. I realize this has probably been asked already. If so please point me in the right direction w/ a thread title or date and I will go through the archived pages to find it. I have 4...

Re: !898 magazine cutoff length

Thanks, since the 1896 one is less common won't modify it and will look for another cutoff. Not really trying to build a stash of Krag parts though. Will add it to the list of Garand and Springfield parts I need to sell.

Re: !898 magazine cutoff length

May have answered my own question. Removed the cutoff from my 1898 Carbine and it has a shorter cutoff shaft. Looks like I can just shorten the half round section of the one I bought for my buddies rifle and make it work. Any comments before I get the Dremel out?
