Re: Me and my 1917
Mine (JA 2 groove) is still the 26 length and with a 4 X scope shoots a 1/2 high by 1 1/2 wide group with 150 grain match hollow point boat tails. I have used the target bullets for everything. 1 shot kills on coyotes and pigs running at almost 300 yards. Even the 500lb+ pound Mr. Pig was dead befor...

Re: Me and my 1917
I don't have one, but will they chamber a .311 bullet? If so, that might improve accuracy. My dad's did before I had to set the barrel back 2 threads (.2 inches). I did not have a reamer at that time and Mr. Kleinguenther did the rechambering for me. Now it does not chamber an .06 cartridge with a ...

Re: Surgical recovery and shooting
Your story gets worse and worse. On the other thread it was just the shoulder. With the spinal involvement be extra careful. I like Br's suggestion on the reduced load in the 30/40. My dad was a fan of such things with his 1917 Enfield. 20 grains of Unique with a 100 grain plinker or 110 grain round...

Re: Me and my 1917
RickyG that looks like a major ouchie! Maybe you could hunt by that date with a 22 Hornet? Remember a story of an old Indian that used to hunt with a 22 rimfire. Went back to the gun store and asked for a magnum rifle as his eyes were not so good anymore. Gun store owner showed him a 7mm Magnum. Not...

Re: It is already too late! Maybe not.
Well, it is time for last minute preparations for Eclipse 1. Just got 3 filters for different camera lenses. Photo was taken with a new 58mm filter on a long 300 mm telephoto lens. I was hoping to see details like sunspots. I guess I would need the 4 inch reflector for that but I gave it away. Talke...

Re: My Bannerman Krag
I really like that sporter stock, if it is like mine the cheek piece makes it fast on sight. Sometimes a 1/10 of a second makes a difference.

Re: Interesting Sporter
Bryan sent me an offer that I think is very fair. Like I said I really do not need another 30 caliber rifle. If anyone else really likes this, please go for it and save me.

Re: Interesting Sporter
That is certainly an interesting looking sporter and appears to be nicely kept. I need another 30 caliber rifle like I need another hole in the head but I gotta ask how much?
I think you now could list it after your first post with a new user name.

Re: It is already too late! Maybe not.
Off-topic, but reminded me of a question - BR, why is the UP MI instead of WI? Has always seemed odd somehow. I think there is some kind of rivalry going on with Michigan and Wisconsin. Be careful that you do not upset Br. For some reason we miss out on all that stuff in the middle of Texas. I cann...

Re: It is already too late! Maybe not.
First of the 2 eclipses is coming up. I ordered some lenses for my DSLR camera. This first one will be a ring of fire eclipse. I am not sure if the shadow phenomenon that I heard about will apply with it. On a total eclipse from the top of a hill you can watch the shadow from the eclipse approach at...
