Re: RCBS 1010 calibration

The support that the pan rests on is filled with lead shot. A phillips screw opens it up. You can add or subtract shot pellets, to get your scale to level up. That's what the factory does. No need to send it back. Probably one or two #9's will do it for you. I have done this to my Ohaus 1010 (pre RC...

Re: PRIMERS

Can't help on where to get primers, but with cast bullet loads, or any loadings below 40k pressure, you can substitute large pistol primers. I do it all the time. They work best with easy to ignite powders.

Re: Huber trigger on my Krag - Range Report

I got to shoot the Krag today. At 100 yards offhand, 6 for 6 on the 8" plates, 3 for 3 on the 6" gong, and 1 for 3 on the 4" gong, using cast bullets. I have a 4x Weaver post & crosshair scope, on a side mount on this rifle. What a pleasure, compared to the stock trigger. Trigger ...

Huber trigger on my Krag

I finally broke down and bought one, for one of my Krags, after much procrastinating. I installed it on my 98, which had the worst trigger. Removal of the old trigger, and installation of the new Huber was easy. I did leave a lightened replacement trigger return spring in place, that I had used for ...

Re: 26" barrel Krag?

Here are two photo's. Were the front sights on the Krags soldered on? If not how were they attached?

26" barrel Krag?

I have a 1898 Krag, that was somewhat sporterized. It was drilled and tapped for a side mount scope, by a previous owner. The barrel is 26" long. There is no front sight, but there is a flat on the barrel, where a front sight base would go. I thought Krags came only in 30 and 22" models. W...

Re: Scout Scope Mount

I did try to contact Kraghaus, but I never got a response back. I did not know if they were still in business. They accept only checks, no credit cards, so I wasn't about to just send money, unknowingly. Anyhow, the alternative worked out just fine.

Scout Scope Mount

I inherited a 1899 Krag carbine from my grandfather. He said he paid $1.50 for it from the DCM, way back when. It had been semi customized, with a Springfield front sight and a Rice rear sight. Anyhow my aging eyes just could not focus and see those pesky gongs at 100 yards. I had a Leupold 2x EER s...
