Does that rifle have a stepped barrel? Hard to see from pic.

Re: Help needed identifying model and value

<blockquote>It is not unusual for the bayonet lug to be filed off of 'sported' Norwegian Krag barrels.</blockquote><br /><br />Right. Was saying that I wasn't sure, by the pictures, if the lug was still on there hidden by the fabric or not. And it is hard to tell If the outside of the barrel has bee...

Re: Help needed identifying model and value

It is hard to tell if it has a stepped down barrel like my Stomperud. It looks to have been heavily polished. Not sure if it still has a bayonet lug from the pictures. It is interesting.

Re: Help needed identifying model and value

It is interesting that it has a checkered carbine bolt handle and not the round rifle knob.

Re: Stomperud parts rifle

<r>OK, I cobbled together a Stomperud looking stock from a M94 stock. At least it is not just a barreled action, she has some clothes on now.<br /><IMG src="https://kragcollectorsassociation.org/kca/phpBB3/images/yabbfiles/Attachments/20190929_165757.jpg"><s>[img]</s><URL url="https://kragcollectors...

Re: Stomperud parts rifle

It arrived today finally. It is indeed a Stomperud. Used to be a 1897 Stey Private issue M94 long rifle. Bolt, barrel and receiver matched like they did with the Stomperud.
Now a stock.... :-/

Re: Stomperud parts rifle

Once it arrives I will better able to gauge what I will eventually try with it. So far my thoughts are mirroring yours. A two piece cut, as I am not keen on my skills at being able to inlet the barrel band spring if I just cut it back.

Re: Stomperud parts rifle

Makes me wonder if a good number of these were imported like this, without stocks.

Stomperud parts rifle

<r>Hello,<br />I recently won an auction for what seems to be all the metal pieces of a Stomperud rifle, minus the cleaning rod, front sight hood and rear sling swivel. Matching barrel, receiver and bolt. I am thinking of buying a full length stock and cutting it down (shudder) or maybe finding a de...

Re: Can you tell me what kind of Krag I have? Value?

Not sure why they haven't responded yet. I was looking forward to what they might say. I think the stock conversions was done in 1908 if I read it right in another book I just got.
