Re: Win 748

Interesting replies-thanks. I bought the W748 with loading for my AR in mind. I noticed there were quite a few published loads for the 30-30 and it got me thinking about loading for the 30-40. I probably only shoot a hundred rounds or so a year out of the Krag so it’s not a huge deal. I was just thi...

Win 748

I’ve had good luck loading IMR 4895 and 168gr FMJBT’s but I would like to try Win 748 and conserve my 4895. I haven’t seen any load data for the Krag and 748. I’ve seen load data for the 30-30 and Win 748 and I think I’ve read you can use 30-30 data as a starting point for the Krag?

Re: Schrodinger's headspace - a problem that isn't?

When I got my Mark 3 Enfield I was worried about headspace after reading all the horror stories about case separations then I read about guys using either small o-orings or hair tie rubber bands slid down the case against the rim and either form fired with a light charge or just fired with a live ro...

Re: Question on sizing.

Pulled the Hornady brass out of the bag loaded and fired just fine using jacketed bullets ...just neck sizing now. FWIW Winchester brass is about 2/3s the price of Hornady

Re: Real Gunbroker Men of Genius

No horse in the race-not defending anyone or trying to start something but its possible the 303 case was a hand load resized to 30/40

Re: Stretching out to 300yds

<blockquote>Not sure what Griff used... but my preference is for H4895. It just seems to meter a little better than IMR for me and I get more consistent results. I'm using H4895 for most of my ammo (except 7.7x58 Jap and 30-40). I'm planning on trying a new load for my Krag with a 178 gr ELD and 489...

<blockquote><blockquote>Really, it looks intimidating at first... but it's really not bad. If you've shot a local match, you will be able to handle it.
