Hopefully, it's OK to post a link....

Re: Weaver M 29-S 'special' scope

We are absolute nuts for vintage scopes on vintage rifles in this house. The glass, the field of view, the seals are all worse than even entry level scopes these days but they look so right. Of course, there are a few surprises out there...the Weaver J-series have surprisingly nice glass, Lyman Alas...

Re: Weaver M 29-S 'special' scope

Neat. There's a couple of 29's here at Casa Hoot. Cool old single post mounted on a Marlin 39 is a favorite. We do like the old Weavers...

Re: 22 hornet what rifle twist?

WARNING: From memory (or what's left of it): Hornets typically use 1:16 twist and also typically use bullets in the 40-ish gr. range because of that twist. Re: Mannlicher Steyr M95/34 in 35/40 krag

A buddy of mine has converted them into both .45-70 and .30-40. I **believe** both required a new barrel.

The 8x56R is a fun cartridge and components are available. Hornady produces a soft point and Privi makes both FMJ and cases. Lee makes dies.

Re: 22 Hornet Heavy Barrel Krag Sporter

Very interesting. Single shot I presume? Is that a forward anchor point on the front action ring?

Re: Interesting peep over on DoubleGunShop boards

My best guess for elevation is the peep is mounted to/integral with a leaf spring and the large knob has a cam or stepped surfaces under said spring. The remainder is something of a mystery. I'd love to see it in person.

I do have a cut-down stock but I'd take HeyJoe's over mine! ;D
