Re: My cut down long rifle turned School Rifle project

Thanks. Nice looking rifle that you have. I don't think mine looks as good. I have no plans yo do any re-finishing, etc, other than installing a 1901 carbine sight that I have. I may have to re-finish the hand guard. Range report will not be until October of this year.<br /><br /><blockquote>Nice ri...

Re: My cut down long rifle turned School Rifle project

Thank you. Yes, I had read that about the M1905 Bayonet attachment. I haven't decided on a sling for this rifle. it is a 1903 production. I supposed just about any sling from the 1887 to the Kerr would be good. I am quite partial to the Kerr. I like how it can be tighened up real good. <br /><br /><...

Re: My cut down long rifle turned School Rifle project

No. It is 22", like it is supposed to be. I trust that is what Bruce made it, because that is what I asked him to do.

Looks like a fun shooter.
Barrel still 24"?

My cut down long rifle turned School Rifle project

<r>Hello,<br /><br />Several months ago, I purchased a cut down 1898 long rifle. The serial placed it in 1903 production. The barrel was about 24", so I decided that I would make it into a correct looking School Rifle. After the rifle arrived at my local 01-FFL, I arranged for Bruce Dow, of Dow...

Re: Krag hand guard

The ones that S&S had seemed to be the same ones that one guy was making. That guy....I messaged him.....said that his son was making those and that, because of health concerns, is NO LONGER making them. I think there is only one other maker of a repro hand guard. otherwise, you are just going t...

Krag barrel installation

Have queried them<br /><b...

Re: Mills Cartridge Belts

I do not claim "Guru" status when it comes to the late 1800s wb gear, but I have looked at a bunch. There were several manufacturer's of web equipment leading into the Span/Am War. With the military being in shortage of many items, other "brands" were pressed into service, as I u...

Re: Mills Cartridge Belts

<r>Just picked up this Hulbert 30-40 single row belt. May add a buckle to it and rig up a way to mount my Ames M1906 Saber. Have seen sword hanger "Hooks". I think I can work up something very similar with some heavy gage rod.<IMG src="https://kragcollectorsassociation.org/kca/phpBB3/image...
