Re: What gives you the willies?

I wouldn't worry about the Africanized bee's much. Have a 'beekeeper' friend who travels around with an 18 wheeler 'hive' to different farm areas. If they find an aggressive or African hive they simply replace the Queen with an appropriate one and in a very short period the aggressiveness is bred ou...

Re: Krag 30/40 and accuracy vs. chamber/throat

Thanks gents. Very substantial info and pics.... I doubt I'll get that done unless I buy a worn barrel Krag but the option is excellent really. The shop will blue the rifle barrel too if you ask (shiny or matte)..the shop Boss mentioned that...He, Luke (shop manager) also said they 'set' headspace (...

Re: What gives you the willies?

Fred, Ha, and them damn Cali rattlers migrate too! I have not hunted anything in decades...since before my Army career that started in '70 and ended in '03.... I know it is a healthy thing to thin herds etc. but I find no sport in it as they cannot shoot back. Sounds silly but that's the truth of it.

Re: What gives you the willies?

Fred, you can relocate a rattler and he/she will go back home. They return to their den in the same location, pit, cave etc. that they were born in. They are territorial critters. Some northern rattlers migrate but not ours....

Re: Krag 30/40 and accuracy vs. chamber/throat

Thanks for the info.... they said they would 'test fire' so can't see how they could have shorted the chamber. BTW, I just made my 29S scope on the Krag ( I like the friction adjusters, very tight and no hassle) into a 4x by putting the eyepiece of a WEE Weaver in place, swapping them. That is all i...

Re: What gives you the willies?

What also gives me the willies is folks that kill every snake they see....this is a Gopher snake that's 'protection' is mimicking in looks and action a rattler. If threatened, they will coil and 'act' as if they will strike but are harmless...some will even shake a bush with their tail to mimic a 'r...

Re: Krag 30/40 and accuracy vs. chamber/throat

BRanger... I get that... so you've seen the Criterion barrel done by that shop.... I am getting good accuracy now but the idea intrigued me seeing as this was a pre CMP rifle w/ replaced original barrel....like going home if you will :). Is the Criterion the exact same profile as original or not? Wh...

That looks very period and I have a weaver 29S with those adjustments ... I used it as a parts supplier to my other 29S that has click adjusters.

Re: What gives you the willies?

See them all the time in AZ...actually the little clear ones sting is worse than the larger dark ones.

The only thing that makes me nervous are the Mohave Green rattlers...they have both neurotoxic and hemotoxic venom... they make me nervy

Re: Krag 30/40 and accuracy vs. chamber/throat

Todd, very interesting and great results... I am not into casting rounds (except for my flintlock) but that is a great way to work up loads and control the variables. Nice shooting. BRanger....thanks for the pics and info...so now we can say ' leade, lead, leed' lol, I like options. I am loading lon...
