Re: Careful on this one
Another trick to identifying a proper carbine slide is to look at where the notch is. On carbine sights the notch is squarely in the middle well rifle sights have the notch offset to one side, this was due to the rifles having a tendency to shoot right at longer distances, this was not observed in t...

Re: handguard
Definitely interested in seeing the progress, I have a extra Kirk Stokes short rifle stock, a 1898 receiver and various other parts I'm planning to assemble with a new barrel to make a great shooter and the handguard price is holding me back, I was hoping the repros would come back in stock but stil...

Re: New project 169 gr. SMKs
Definitely interested! I would think IMR 4064 would be a good fit with that, I haven't tried any bullets other than my cast 221 grain and Hornady 150 grain FMJs in my Krag as of yet.

Re: Krag in 7X57
Nice Krag, one thing to keep in mind is the Krag's action strength, no where near that of the Swedish Mauser, now the Norwegian Krag is stronger than the American Krag generally as the guide rib and foreward locking lug both bear on the receiver and use the bolt handle as a safety lug. After verifyi...

Re: The Krag challenge
Sorry to hear about your eye troubles Fred, my wife has had type 1 diabetes since she was 6 and had to have a vitrectomy 2 years ago to stabilize her diabetic retinopathy in her right eye, fortunately both her eyes are stable and she continues to have good vision in her left, her right eye that had ...

Re: Fun Gun Challenge - What is it?
That is really interesting, I actually have been quite interested in straight pulls as of late and had no idea of conversions involving the mauser action.

Re: Hunting Season is fast approaching!
That is a nice buck! The season closed here on Sunday and my wife shot a nice 4 by 4 on Saturday, I didn't end up getting anything, there was a younger forked horn buck I saw Saturday afternoon that I considered but with the high temperatures we are having I figured one deer to process on Sunday bef...

Re: Fun Gun Challenge - What is it?
I believe that is a Mauser reciever,
Just a shot in the dark but maybe a Mauser self loading conversion?

Re: World's largest Buffington sight
Thanks BR for that information, as a new collector it is really interesting to me to hear about how things had used to be, prices and deals seem unbelievable until you think about how much different the dollar was at the time. As of late I have been diving pretty deep into Lee Enfields and find them...
