A couple of things to consider and differences between the U.S. and Norwegian Krags. The Norwegians actually had two locking lugs: the one on the front of the bolt face and the guide rib which contacts the rear ring of the receiver (unlike the U.S. model which does n0ot make contact). It would help to know barrel length, all receiver markings, does it have all matching serial numbers on all partw including the stock, is it in original military condition, percentage of original blueing left and stock condition. Also would help to have numerous photos.

Your Krag was originally manufactured as a Rifle in 1894. I have record of serial numbers 2028 and 2198 being issued to Company "A", 7th Infantry during June, 1895. Chances are that your rifle was issued to them also. If it still is in rifle form and still all Military, don't do any thing ...
