Your 1899 Carbine is not listed in the SRS books. As to usage, most likely not. John

Re: 1896 Replacement Hand Guard Fit
OK, Don't do it. Your original stock is worth a lot more then the replacement HG. You might want to contact them and see if all their replacements have spacing as you describe. The worst they can say is yes. John

Re: purpose of forward "swivel" behind bayonet guide

Re: 1898 Carbine
John, Your estimate prices are no where near reality. First, finding original parts is extremely difficult. Original carbine rear sight you are looking at $5-600 range, stock $500, HG $2-300 just to name a few. If you feel it is right then buy it at the $425 and enjoy it as is. Sorry to ruin your da...

Rocky, Like they say in real estate: location, location. In this case we are talking condition and originality. There are a lot of details that have to be factored into the value. Stock, barrel and bore, rear sight and front blade, markings all need to be seen. I'll PM you. John

Hi Rocky, Did you transpose the number or is this number correct? I just responded to your post over on Culver sight. You had it as 78547. John
