Re: Ammo Porn

Followed the link and bought two bags. Only opened one bag and inspected. About a 10% drop out rate due to pleats in the neck/mouth area. Reworked two and possibly saved them, four went in the scrap pile.

Re: Winchester Brass

Just bought 2 bags after reading and following the link. Although at 17.95 the shipping charges were a bit high, still the price per bag delivered was better than any others I'd found.

Thanks for the heads up, guys!

Re: Krag Bore Size Question

Thanks, Butler,

I'll take some photos and post. I actually did post some when I first started down the Krag road back in 2015. My pics are still on the sporterized page. I just looked them up.

Two years ago I took my first deer with it, on the 75th anniversary of when my dad to...

Re: Krag Bore Size Question

Yes, it does copper foul a bit, but I've not put more than about 30 rounds down it since I started shooting it, but it shoots very well.

It's serial number 133937 and professionally sporterized probably sometime in the 20's. Was purchased around 1940 from a pawn shop by my Dad.
<br...

Krag Bore Size Question

I have a low serial number Krag that I took out of the safe the other day to prep for winter. My new endoscope camera revealed a much better than anticipated bore, better than even my low round count Shilen Select Match 308 barrel.

Almost no firecracking, perfect lands and grooves, very ...

Took my first Deer with my Dads Krag.

I bagged my first ever deer with my Dads old Krag back in November. He bought the rifle from a pawn shop in Waco, TX right out of boot camp, and took it home to Oregon with him on Christmas leave. I have a pic of him in this Army uniform, holding the rifle and standing next to a deer he took with it...

Splitting case near rim.

Friend forwarded me his question. I told him I'd post it here and hope for the best. Sounds like a bubba smith got ahold of it.

Here it is.

I have an 1898 Krag rifle and it has a major head space issue, it splits the cases near the rim of the case, it even splits new cases on t...

Re: What's going on with this brass?

Lot's of great information guys, it'll take a while to sink in as i try different approaches. I bought a set of lee FL sizing dies and will try the neck only approach for now, just because that is what I do for my 223 brass.

I'll start trying some hand loads in the next few weeks and let ...

Re: 1896 Springfield Carbine

Fascinating 1928 article. Do you have the entire magazine article available to read?

A dollar and a half for a fine example of American workmanship!
