Re: Krags in the Movies

I wasn't trying to be pushy. Sometimes when I try to be witty it comes across snarky. It is hard to read body language on this type of format. If you knew me you would know that I am normally respectful, but fun loving.<br /><br />I haven't watched "55 Days At Peking" lately, but I believe...

Re: Krags in the Movies

I didn't realize the rules of engagement here. So we are looking for Krags in movies where they are not expected to be seen? Kind of like a puzzle or finding a diamond in the rough.<br /><br />I was going to try and add "55 Days At Peking" (1963 with Charleton Heston) . But it has 2 strike...

Re: Krags in the Movies

Glad you like the story. Meanwhile, back on the farm:
Can we include "Rough Riders " TV mini-series from 1997 with Tom Berenger and Sam Elliot? Not sure if it fits the definition of a movie, but it's darn close if it aint. It is a really great shoe!

Re: Ceremonial Krag

I've seen pictures of a chromed Krag before, but not in this good of condition. I remember seeing some chromed rifles in parades when I was a kid. Back then I would have no idea what kind of rifles they were.

Re: Krags in the Movies

Off topic, but to finish my great grandpa's story, here is a copy of a letter requesting his campaign badges after becoming a captain for the Great War. He apparently wanted them for his uniform when in full dress.<br /><br /><a href='https://s1320.photobucket.com/user/blknutson/media/CampaignBadges...

Townsend Whelen's Krag Sporter

From Townsend Whelen's book, "The American Rifle", he describes his Krag sporter with an 1895 Winchester barrel.<br /><br /><a href='https://s1320.photobucket.com/user/blknutson/media/WhelenKragSporter_zpscfyr25lk.jpg.html'><IMG src="https://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u528/blknutson/Whel...

Re: Capsule Magazine?

I thought this would be an easy assignment. I haven't found anything except for CRsenal's segment on the Krag Jorgensen. Othias discusses the capsule concept 5-1/2 minutes into the video. This video was also brought up in another post, but here it is again:<br /><br />https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Re: Krags in the Movies

Sorry, no pictures with a Krag. Below are the only military pictures I know of. I am not sure when/where the first picture was taken. I am assuming it was during his first enlistment and was taken in Manila, Philippines (he also was sent to China for the Boxer Rebellion). He is wearing his Army Stet...
