Re: Krags in the Movies
Check out this website for what the Krag Jorgensen was being used for in the movie "100 Rifles". Scan down and it is the Model 1896 portrayed as being used. Unfortunately, I don't believe Raquel is seen in the movie actually handling a Krag.

http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/100_Rifles<...

Re: Krags in the Movies
Is "100 Rifles" on the list? A 1969 movie with Burt Lancaster and Raquel Welch.
Seriously, a movie with Raquel and Krags, could life get any better?

Re: Which brass is better Hornady or Reminton
The last time I bought brass, Hornady was the most available. That would make them the best for me. There was a time brass was hard to obtain.

Re: New Krag Enthusiast
Appears to be a replacement stock, too. More pictures would help along with the S/N if you want even more info.
You came to the right place. You will get a lot of help on this.

Re: Slings
Here is an extensive article titled "The Use of the Gun Sling" from the 1/1/1906 "Journal of the United States Infantry Association". It has seven pictures with the Krag rifle wearing the sling of that period. It even has a comment from 2nd Lieutenant Townsend Whelen of the 30th ...

Re: Need help identifying rifle
Check S & S Firearms. I bought one a few years back. I'm not sure the cost as I bartered old gun parts from a Prussian musket. The barrel band was in excellent condition and I have it on my 1896 sporter.

Re: !898 24 inch barreled, 30:40 Krag,
I have a sporterized Krag with a 1903 barrel. It is 24" long and re-chambered for 30-40. So it has been done.
