Re: Ya’ll better jump on this UNALTERED 1898 sight!

Looks good, Culpepper - super-low rails; quickest way to spot at a distance. I was lucky, got mine MANY years ago, but took a long time to find the right carbine to stick under it.

PM System

Aside from being a very poor way to contact me - because I simply/stupidly just don't "see" it - I am also confused by the organization/nomenclature thereof, particularly the difference between "outbox" and "sent". Just minutes ago, I replied to both Whig and Stretch, b...

Re: Krag rifle in current CMP auction

Ist one on highbid muzzle looks rusted bad into end of barrel. 2nd one is a rifle cut down or barrel changed to 22 inches. Rear sight probably rifle. There are nice ones selling out there. Lots of Krags available. Just have to be picky and watch details especially if you can't handle it in person a...

Re: Correct rear sight?

Chuck, I don't think there's ANYTHING to disagree about, nor did I mean to infer that you were suggesting he change his sight.

On a different note, hope to get the photos of 389182 taken and off to you this week.

Re: Correct rear sight?

Not to quarrel, but if the rifle is in fine condition, with a perfect match of handguard to stock, it is not IMPOSSIBLE that the 1901 is original, so I'd recommend proceding with caution. The rule of thumb USED to be that a 1901 indicated regular army use, and a 1902, militia issuance. That seems to...

Krag rifle in current CMP auction

A friend called my attention to this.

For those of us holding Krags, it's nice to see prices at that level - the rifle is nice, but far from minty.

Re: You heard it here first

I'm betting we see The Cackler before then. Gonna be a long, hot, nasty summer - don't know if Brandon will hold up. Every slip of the lip will show how far gone he is. And, for those who say he gave his whole life in service to his country - I say he was WELL compensated, both over AND under the ta...

Re: M1898 Krag carbines

That's quite an addition to our small list, Dick. It sure would be nice to know which ones, or how many, are still in the short stocks with the sling and ring and Model 1896 rear sight. Thanks. Yes, it would, but the list is from long ago, and I just wasn't noting thaings like that, unfortunately. ...

Wasn't the whole thing also posted here - and so should be available somehow - or was it by link reference only? Hope it isn't gone - was kinda neat . . .
