Re: New to me 1898 cut down "Short Rifle"

I agree about the "Purists" too! Some of these so called "Purists" are the same guys who blow hard about having their Garand be "As Manufactured" with matching numbers and absolutely museum quality finish... something we all know is practically impossible (G...

Re: Mills Cartridge Belts

I have pondered this. I looked at the specs for the 45-70 and the 30-40. Let's say both belts are designed for a snug but not tight fight for the respective cases and the rims are used to prevent the cases from falling through the loops. The base diameter for the 45-70 is .505 inch. The Krag round i...

Re: M1917 American Enfield

Austin-Healey 3000. Now that was a car! I knew a retired Senior Master Sergeant in West Germany early '80s who owned one. It was his baby. He said it was H E double hockeysticks finding the correct parts to freshen it up. She was a beauty.

Now about the Fridge. Nothing in there but milk a...

Re: M1917 American Enfield

p.s. Maybe Ohio lost the war with Michigan? They ended up with Toledo, after all!

Sad but very true. Perhaps Ohio should annex Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati along with Toledo to Michigan. We'll throw Kaisch in for free.

Re: M1917 American Enfield

Pith Helmet? No, Sah. I would not stoop so low as to wear that abomination. Mine is a M1917 US helmet. Worn by saints and sinners of the Great War and the Russia campaigns. Pith helmets are only worn by scurilous dogs and scaliwag teetotalers.

Now about that likker stash. What kin I pour ...

Re: M1917 American Enfield

I'm with you on the cult thing. There is nothing like the joy of seeing another 'shine aficionado sporting a rakish brown jug slung over her shoulder in a devil may care manner.

Or like our Band of Krag Brothers.
