Less than 22 inch barrel?
On the Krag, what is the significance of the 22 inch bbl length? Or the 30 inch bbl? Is there something special about either length and the .30-40 military round? Or was it just an arbitrarily chosen length? Other than sight radius would cutting an already cut bbl to 19-20 inches hurt anything? I'm ...

Re: Krag with a Kraghaus mount-- opinions?
My Kraghaus mount came yesterday so I started trying to get it on my carbine today. It's was a tad long butting up against the action enough that the screws wouldn't align with the sight mount holes. I removed a little material from the receiver end of the mount to get the holes true. The other thin...

Re: Krag with a Kraghaus mount-- opinions?
Thanks for posting psteinmayer. Your rifle looks good. I think that is what I'm going to do to mine. I was going to mess with a sporterized 03 Springfield build but this is a simpler pseudoscout conversion. I do enjoy shooting my Krags.

Re: Krag with a Kraghaus mount-- opinions?
My plan is to use my Nikon 2X EER scope. I originally bought the scope to use on a model 41 .22 but the scope is actually more of an intermediate eye relief scope and was no good at arms length. I think that it will work for a scout rifle project.

Re: Krag with a Kraghaus mount-- opinions?
How do you like it? Do you hunt with the rifle as a scout rifle? As slick as a Krag naturally is I would think it would be a fast woods gun. And with a low power or red dot scope would be even slicker.

Krag with a Kraghaus mount-- opinions?
While I love my Constabulary Krag I'm not impressed with my ersatz NRA Krag. I would never drill up the receiver to mount a scope even on this carbine but lately I've been thinking about scout rifles. The Kraghaus 6 inch scout scope mount looks very interesting. Just one extra hole which would be hi...

Krag speedloader wanted
I'm thinking of using my Constabulary rifle in a Garand match this fall (boltgun division) and just saw this speedloader contraption for Krags. I didn't know that there even was such a device. Anyone know where I could get one or have a couple gathering dust in their reloading room that they would p...

Re: Fake NRA Krag rebuild
butlersrangers, removing the ring and plugging the incorrect screw holes was the first thing I did when I got the rifle and realized the sling bar was just stuck onto the stock. Just didn't study the photos that were posted by the seller. I guess that I'll leave it be but what does the 1898 bolt sle...

Re: 1898 sporter - crack in the bolt
Just thought that I would mention that there is a company called Kraghaus that makes a long eye relief scope mount that uses the krag sight's screw holes with a possible third hole being needed depending on the scope and picatinny rail needed. Nice rifle, good hunting.
