Serial # falls in a large block of carbines. If the markings on the receiver say 1899 then it at least started life as a carbine.

Stock extensions are available from a number of sources and can be joined invisiblely under the lower band as in Parashoter's post. With the uncut barrel, yours is a perfect candidate for this if you choose. Should be a fun project!!

If you could post some pictures it would be a big help!! As Dick says the serial number is far out of the carbine range. But if cut to carbine length you should have a handy shooter/hunting rifle.
