180 gr RN Jacket Bullets
Hello All, I have not posted in a while because I have been out of Large Rifle primers and cannot locate any. But, the primer shortage is not the reason for this posting. In my 1899 Krag carbine I get the best accuracy results using Hornady 180 gr and 220 gr Round Nose Interlock bullets. For the las...

Re: Powder??? Where's all the powder?
Paul, Have you ever been to GUNS GALORE located in Fenton, Michigan which is about an hour northwest of the Detroit Area? In normal times they have just about everything a competitive shooter might need. Two downsides: They are pricey and the help is snarly.

Re: WW Brass Trim to length?
I often find that new bottleneck brass has some cases whose case mouths are a little bit "out of round". In seating the bullet with mouths like that, sometimes the neck crushes and the never fired brass will need to be tossed. As such I aways full-length sized, trim, and shamfour new bottl...

Re: Hornady .308, 180 gr RN Interlock Bullets
Good Morning Whig,
Thanks for the info on Dowdles. I just placed an order for 2 boxes of Sierra 180 RN's.
I have never reloaded any Sierra bullets, but I know a few reloaders who use them exclusively.
Also, thanks to all others who responded to my post on this.

Hornady .308, 180 gr RN Interlock Bullets
I have 300 Winchester Large Rifle primers left. I want to reload 200 rounds of .30-40 Krag and 100 rounds of the ancient .303 Savage cartridge. My Model 1899 Krag cycles both of Hornady's 180 gr .308 bullets really well. i.e., the Spitizer and Round nose, but I prefer to reload the Round nose. My Sa...

PRIMERS
Anyone out there have a "secret source" for Large Rifle and Large Pistol primers ? OK, now to get back to reality. On another forum, I frequently see posts describing how primers show up on Midway, Graf&Sons, and Mid-South websites. I have been on the "Notify Me" lists at Mid...

Crimping
I have been reloading for my model 1899 Krag carbine for 2 years. I mostly use Hornady 180 gr spitzer or RN interlock bullets, and Hornady 220 gr RN interlock bullets. Todate, I have always crimped these reloads thinking the crimps will increase consistency in velocity as the bullets exits the barre...

Re: Winchester Brass
I have not used any Graf .30-40 Krag brass, so I can't be of help.

Winchester Brass
I just purchased 3, 50 count bags of new Winchester .30-40 Krag brass from a gun shop in Wisconsin. The owner could not remember how long he had the brass in inventory, but I suspect it could be as long as 5 - 8 years. Since I acquired my 1899 Krag carbine in 2019, I have been working with Hornady b...

Re: Improvement at the Range
Butlersrangers, Mighty fine shooting with the 110 gr and 152 gr loads. I have plenty of IMR 4198 on hand. I have a severe problem with woodchucks in my vegetable garden; I will get some 110 gr bullets when they become available, and try them on those ravenous varmints. Also, because of the success I...
